Nocturnal Enuresis/Bedwetting Treatment - Lakeside Low level laser
Nocturnal enuresis, or bedwetting as it is commonly known as, is a primary type of urinary incontinence occurring in children aged five and above. Nocturnal Enuresis is the intermittent, involuntary voiding during sleep which affects around 15-20% of 5 year olds and 2% of adult children with a high rate of remission.
Nocturnal Enuresis/bedwetting can occur under a number of different circumstances or due to different reasons. The exact cause of nocturnal enuresis is unknown however there are a number of suggested causes. Ordinarily, you produce less urine when you sleep however, some people produce larger amounts of urine during the night. Other suggested causes include; an overactive bladder or a smaller than average bladder, stress or anxiety, certain types of medication, fluid intake before bed or a urinary tract infection. It can occur after a particularly stressful situation or as a result of a medical condition.
Most children outgrow nocturnal enuresis/bedwetting, however there is a small number who continue to wet the bed throughout adolescence and adulthood, and this becomes known persistent primary nocturnal enuresis.
