Meniere’s disease

Meniere’s disease (dizziness)- low level laser treatment Meniere’s disease is a disorder including the inner ear that causes various changes to your body, in particular a spinning sensation (vertigo), ringing of the ear (tinnitus), a feeling of fullness or a build-up of pressure in the ear and fluctuating episodes of hearing loss.

The common cause of Meniere’s disease is thought to be an abnormality in the structure and/or the amount of fluid in the inner ear. However it’s still unclear what factors cause these changes. Management of the condition involves a reduction of salt in the diet and medications involving diuretics. Upper cervical adjustments as well as trigger point therapy may also assist in the treatment of Meniere’s disease although cold laser therapy has been an integral part of managing the condition.

Cold Laser Therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy is an alternative medicine used highly in medical professions in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Low-level laser therapy is harmless, extremely cost effective and is used to reach deep tissues underlying the skin. The treatment utilises and infrared cold laser beam that doesn’t expose the patient to any radiation and possesses a technique that doesn’t involve any breaking of the skins surface.

The treatment follows a certain protocol that involves 6-12 sessions roughly, 2-3 times a week and involves attaching a utility probe to the end of the laser and placing it into the ear canal. The laser is placed in the ear for roughly 5 minutes at a certain time with the purpose of improving microcirculation and decreasing any inflammation that’s generally present.

The cold laser therapy gives patients experiencing Meniere’s disease the best chance at regeneration of the inner ear and decreasing the symptoms of vertigo, nausea and hearing loss.
