Bruising & Low Level Laser Therapy

Cold laser therapy or low-level laser therapy is a non-invasive therapy that utilises low levels of light to stimulate the healing of tissues. The cold laser treatment works by applying a non-heat laser to the inflamed area on the body. The tissue then absorbs the light and a chemical reaction takes place whereby the damaged cells begin to regenerate and strengthen again. The treatment is painless and the laser itself creates no heat, vibration or sound. Cold laser therapy is a treatment option incorporated by many medical professions due to its ease of use, harmlessness and proven results.

Cold laser therapy or low-level laser therapy is used to treat many musculoskeletal conditions and other conditions including bruising. Low-level laser therapy can treat bruising by breaking up the haemoglobin, protein molecules within the red blood cells that cause the colouring of the bruise. The process won’t act immediately on the bruise however it will speed up the healing process and remove the bruise faster than it would go without any treatment.

Bruising is different for every individual, and the pigment/severity of the bruise will change from person to person meaning that the treatment lengths and sessions will vary. It is impossible to say how many treatments are needed to remove the bruise completely but a customised treatment plan will be designed during the first consultation, where our trained practioners will advise you on the frequency of treatments. Our clients have received great benefits from utilising Cold laser therapy/low-level laser therapy.

Sessions generally last 15 minutes with 2 minutes on each section at a time moving around the bruise and the cold laser is applied directly onto the skin and the frequency is changed according to the severity of the bruised area.

Cold laser therapy is used highly in biomedicine for the treatment of many skin injuries including burns, ulceration and surgical wounds. The laser therapy works by decreasing the formation of the fibrous tissue, to ensure that no scar tissue is present after the treatment. Musculoskeletal and wound healing are other conditions that the cold laser treatment has found to be highly beneficial, as the cold laser works to strengthen muscle tissue and accelerate the healing process of cells within tissues.
