You are probably suffering from Bells Palsy- Get onto it quick to lessen muscle weakness!
Bell’s palsy is a fairly common condition that causes a sudden weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face. It is most common in individuals between the ages of 15-45 years of either sex. The weakness results from damage to the facial nerve that controls muscles which causes a facial droop on the affected side. Bell’s palsy can commonly be mistaken for a stroke as the symptom of facial drooping is similar, however there is no link between the two. Bell’s palsy often occurs overnight and the facial muscles return to normal after about 3 months. The specific cause of Bell’s palsy is not clear however it is thought to be due to the herpes virus or some other infection causing swelling of the facial nerve at where it exits the skull. The pinched swollen nerve becomes inflamed resulting in Bell’s palsy.
